Bonne lecture !

đ Comment perdre un monopole (Ben Evans) :
It doesnât matter how big your castle is if the trade routes move somewhere else.
Microsoft never had dominance in the web, though it tried, just as IBM never had dominance in PCs, though it tried.
Just as for IBM, when Microsoft lost dominance of tech that didnât mean the business went away. In fact, the opposite happened.
đ Shape Up: Il faut lire le livre complet.
Scopes:
We break the overall scope (singular) of the project into separate scopes (plural) that can be finished independently of each other.
The scopes reflect the meaningful parts of the problem that can be completed independently and in a short period of timeâa few days or less.
The unscoped tasks that are left donât represent all the work that remains. More tasks are going to be discovered as they start working on each of those. Still, there is enough variety in the work to tease out more scopes.
Discovering scopes:
Scope mapping isnât planning. You need to walk the territory before you can draw the map.
Scopes arise from interdependencies.
The scopes need to be discovered by doing the real work and seeing how things connect and donât connect.
Thatâs why at the start of a project, we donât expect to see accurate scopes. Weâre more likely to see them at the end of week one or start of week two
Asking 1 or 2 of these questions each one on one will keep things fresh, while ensuring youâre covering important subjects regularly. It also gives you ample time to dive into each question as they often will open up into greater detail as long as you follow up with questions like âWhy?â and âTell me moreâŠâ
Two questions to ask in every one on one: 1) What can I hold you accountable for next time we talk? 2) What can I be accountable to you for the next time we talk?
